Scenes from the Q

    Updated 7:10 p.m.:

As San Diego County officials allowed Del
    Mar and Chula Vista
residents to return home late Tuesday night, a series of raging wildfires
continued scorch massive areas in the north and south-eastern portions of the
county. Evacuations were ordered in Jamul, as the Harris Fire continued to rage
south of the city. Officials estimated that more than 500,000 people have left
their homes in the first three days of the disaster.

Though there was little indication that the flames would get
anywhere near campus, UCSD officials announced Tuesday that the university
would remain shut through the rest of the week, and some students began to pack
    their bags to leave voluntarily.

Earlier today, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Homeland Security
Secretary Michael Chertoff arrived at Qualcomm Stadium, a major evacuee center,
announcing that state and federal officials would provide help to the
devastated region. Below is a video from Qualcomm.
