In Focus

Among the food, music and faux-Italian kitsch of Little Italy’s annual Festa in downtown San Diego is an impressive display of street art called the Corso Degli Artisti — “Course of the Artists”. Participants created pieces representing everything from traditional religious images to pop culture icons to surreal fantasy-scapes right on the asphalt of Cedar and Beech Streets. Passers-by could approach the very edges of the creations, done up with easily smudged chalk, charcoal and pastels, while artists continued working. The Festa took place Oct. 7-8.
