FINNEAS’ song “Lotus Eater” from his latest album “For Cryin’ Out Loud” has not left my Spotify queue for over a week. The lyrics pay homage to Homer’s Odyssey, referencing the community which collectively consumes a narcotic lotus plant that allows them to live in a constant state of bliss, regardless of the pressing realities of their personal lives. The song reminds me to do my best to live in the present and not worry about the things I can’t control. The chorus is addictive, escalating feelings of passion and yearning for something just out of reach. “Lotus Eater,” is especially perfect to listen to when I’m driving at night with the windows down as I’m “Blowing out the speakers / I’m the lotus eater now.”
