Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris holds a substantial lead over her opponents among voters in the UC San Diego community, according to an exit poll conducted by The UCSD Guardian on Nov. 5. Of the respondents polled, 76.7% reported casting votes for Harris, 6.9% said they did not vote, and 6.7% said they voted for Republican candidate Donald Trump. Another 2.4% of respondents voted for other candidates, including 1.7% who voted for Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Moreover, 7.1% of respondents were ineligible to vote.
This poll was conducted with convenience sampling near polling stations in Price Center and Eleanor Roosevelt College. Only one question was asked: “Who did you vote for?” Data was collected and entered only by The Guardian reporters on the ground. Only members of The Guardian had access to input data to ensure that results were as accurate as possible. The margin of error is expressed at 5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level with a sample size of 404.
After election night, unofficial results are scheduled to be posted by 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 through Saturday, Nov. 9 and again on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Nov. 11 through Nov. 15.

Why did students vote overwhelmingly Harris? Asking sincerely why she would have been the better leader of the free world.
