UC San Diego baseball (18-21, 14-7 Big West) will face the Loyola Marymount Lions (12-30, 3-12 WCC) on Tuesday at Triton Ballpark. The Tritons defeated the Lions last season in a close 6-5 victory on home turf, increasing their win streak against LMU to three.
The Tritons sit second in the Big West with less than a month before the end of the regular season on May 8. With the top five teams advancing to the Big West Championship, UCSD is solidly in postseason contention, four games ahead of sixth-place Hawai’i. After finishing sixth in the Big West last season and narrowly missing out on the tournament, the Tritons are hoping to maintain a spot to secure a berth. Cal Poly, the top team in the conference, is 15-6 in the Big West.
