No. 10 UC San Diego men’s volleyball (0-0, 0-0 Big West) will begin its 2026 campaign against Jessup (0-0, 0-0 MPSF) on Tuesday night at LionTree Arena — the first fixture of a three-game homestand. The Tritons went 18-12 in 2025, with Long Beach State, the eventual national champions, ending their season in the Big West Championship semifinals. Even after key departures — including All-Big West selections opposite hitter Anthony Cherfan, setter Bryce Dvorak, and outside hitter Josh Schellinger — the Tritons start at No. 10 in the AVCA preseason poll. Returners include junior outside hitter Leo Pravednikov and senior middle blocker Peter Selcho. Pravednikov averaged 2.59 kills per set in 2025, while Selcho contributed 70 blocks. The Tritons also dipped into the transfer portal, bringing in five transfers, including junior outside hitter Sebastiano Sani from Long Beach State.
UCSD is the clear favorite against Jessup, whose men’s volleyball team was established only last year. The Warriors went 15-9 in their inaugural season, going winless in their three matches against ranked opponents.
