“On the winding road: Transgender and son take road trip,” should be the headline of this modern take on the father-son relationship. Our favorite Desperate Housewife Felicity Huffman has gone desperate for an Oscar. Playing a transgender male in deep, stoic regret — this envelope is sealed — watch out Reese! The story follows Huffman’s character as he approaches the sex change operation to become a woman, coming to terms with his new and old identities — and the introduction of his newfound son to the begrudging grandparents. This isn’t serious fare, either. A lot of comedy can come out of mistaken genders and conservative-minded parents — look at the Cheneys.
