Student found dead at Matthews

    Revelle College junior Bryan Tran was found dead at his Matthews apartment on the morning of Nov. 7.

    The cause of death has yet to be determined.

    According to the San Diego County Department of the Medical Examiner, the case is pending lab studies. Results could take 90 days or more to be confirmed.

    Police detectives handling the case could not be reached for comment at press time. According to UCSD Police Officer Kristeen McCollough, the detectives are waiting for the coroner’s report for further investigation.

    Officers filed a report of death at 6:36 a.m. on Nov. 7.

    Tran worked in the department of bioengineering as a research student over the summer and more recently as a lab assistant helping a post-doctorate student with research.

    University officials could not be reached for comment at press time.

    Students at Matthews Apartments had not been notified of Tran’s death as of Nov. 9.

    Further information will be made public as the investigation progresses.
