    Men’s Ultimate

The UCSD men’s ultimate team has been busy lately.

The Squids, who are ranked among the top 10 teams in the nation, headed to Wilmington, N.C., on March 23 for the College Easterns.

After beating Texas A&M, Duke and Cornell University in a huge upset victory, UCSD fell to Oregon in the beginning rounds of the tournament. In the consolation bracket, the team made it all the way to the quarterfinals before losing to Harvard University, the same round the Squids lost in at UCSD’s own Presidents Day Tourney.

UCSD continued its East Coast swing March 30 when it traveled to East Carolina University to compete in the Ultimax Tournament. The Squids were flawless in the tournament, winning every match, including a redemptive 15-14 nail-biter victory over Harvard and a 9-6 win over North Carolina State University in the championship game.

April 13 saw the Squids hit the road again, this time to compete in Sectionals at Claremont College.

UCSD easily advanced through the early rounds of the tournament until it was stopped by UC Santa Barbara in the finals.

Despite the loss, UCSD will head to the Regionals in Colorado Springs, Colo., in two weeks, where it will have the opportunity to square off against UCSB again.

The Squids will attempt to be the first UCSD team ever to make it to the Ultimate Nationals Competition by finishing in the top two.

    Badminton

The UCSD badminton team took on UCSB and Cal Poly Pomona in a dual match April 13. UCSD defeated Cal Poly 8-7 behind the stellar play of Alex Chan and Stephanie Obayashi.

The badminton team needs only to beat UCLA on Saturday to take over first place in the league.
