No one does beat-based electronica better than the Chemical Brothers, and they’ve proved that once again with their new album, Push the Button. Eight years after they burst onto the pop charts with Dig Your Own Hole, the pair is still making dance music that is a vital blend of rock, pop and hip-hop.

One of the most commercially successful teams of techno DJs, the Chemical Brothers can be heard on both the dance floor and on alternative radio. However, their latest album is not all that different from their last album — or any other album that they have produced for that matter. The Chemical Brothers may not have evolved (like their French counterparts Daft Punk), but their collaboration — a classic Chemical Brothers move — with various artists such as Tim Burgess and Anwar Superstar helps make the songs on Push the Button seem more fresh than they would otherwise.

Energy-fused numbers like “Galvanize,” featuring Q-Tip, and “The Boxer” are the Chemical Brothers at their best, but the other euphoric tracks don’t disappoint.

The Chemical Brothers may not be as groundbreaking as they were back in the ’90s, but with each album, they continue to prove their mastery of awesome beats.
