Drink Tank

Staying true to its Mexican counterpart — the Tequila Sunrise — the Thai Sunrise combines essential elements of the Mexican concoction (silver tequila and grenadine) with the sweet-and-sour flavors of mango and lime. This tropical drink resembles less an exotic sunrise than a vibrant, moonshine Starburst, and is the perfect cocktail for a night of “Sex and the City” reruns. More sweet than potent, with just a hint of tequila, this drink may require extra servings.

Note: The trick for its characteristic two-tone layers is to add the grenadine slowly so it settles at the bottom of the glass, creating the sunrise effect.

    Ingredients

2.0 fl. oz. of silver (white) tequila

1.0 fl. oz. of Triple Sec or Cointreau

1.0 fl. oz. of lime juice

half of a mango, peeled and diced

    dash of grenadine

    crushed ice

    Directions

    1. Pour all ingredients except grenadine into a blender. Blend.

    2. Pour the drink into a glass goblet.

    3. Add the grenadine slowly. Stir just before drinking to create a sunrise effect.

    4. Garnish with a slice of orange, mango or pineapple.
