UCSD will receive a diverse foursome of stand-up comedians for Friday night’s Ambassadors of Comedy show at Porter’s Pub. The event shows great promise by billing four seasoned comedians: Jeff Hodge, Sheila Rivera, Bobby Lee and Gerry Bednob.
Hodge has been a stand-up comedian for 12 years. With his previous contributions in “”Crocodile Dundee in L.A.,”” “”Duece Bigalow: Male Gigolo,”” and as a writer for the “”The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show,”” Hodge has proven that he knows how to make people laugh.
Rivera graduated from Texas A&M as an aerospace engineer and spent seven years working as an engineer for the McDonnell Douglas Space Shuttle Program. But alas, she was destined to be a comedian instead.
Having performed on “”The Martin Short show,”” Telemundo TV and at the world famous Laugh Factory, Rivera will present students with an eclectic humor that transcends language and gender barriers.
Lee, a San Diego native and nicknamed Mr. Korea, has been making people laugh for eight years. He’s been on Comedy Central’s “”Premium Blend”” and NBC’s “”Late Friday.”” After spending a short time in a local rock band and at a community college, Lee was discovered at the La Jolla Comedy Store by manager Fred Burns, and then by Pauly Shore. This year, Lee joins the cast of “”MAD TV,”” and will be gracing our humble Stage at the Pub.
Bednob, Mr. Bangladesh, is a 17-year veteran of stand-up comedy and has been on “”Mad About You,”” “”The Wonder Years,”” and “”Seinfeld,”” among other shows and movies. This former winner of “”Star Search”” for his comedy talents has appeared on “”The Arsenio Hall Show,”” and “”The Joan Rivers Show.””
All four comedians are extremely experienced in live comedy and will, undoubtedly, make tomorrow night’s event unforgettable.
“”The Ambassadors of Comedy”” is being performed this Friday at 8 p.m. in Porter’s Pub. The event is free to the public.
