Fast Food Giant Gifts $100K to Preuss School

The Jack in the Box Foundation donated $100,000 to UCSD’s Preuss School on Nov. 2, which will provide for buses to and from the facility as well as scholarships for UCSD-bound Preuss graduates.

While $25,000 of the donation is earmarked for transporting low-income middle and high school students to campus, the other $75,000 will be spent on providing scholarship opportunities for students who could otherwise not afford to go to college, according to a UC Office of the President press release.

“”Thanks to generous donors like the Jack in the Box Foundation, we’re able to provide much-needed transportation for our students, many of whom would have no other way to get to school,”” Preuss School Principal Doris Alvarez stated in a press release.

The fast food empire has made similar donations to the Preuss School for the last three years, all of which count toward the university’s $1 million “”Campaign for UCSD: Imagine What’s Next”” fundraising goal.

Jack in the Box Foundation President Carlo Cetti stated that although Preuss students are highly motivated and hardworking, transportation and rising educational costs can often become barriers to their success.

“”We’re pleased that we can help the deserving students at Preuss overcome these barriers, and we encourage others in the community to lend their support as well,”” Cetti stated.
