Walk for the Cure

On Sunday, Oct. 26, the UCSD Medical Lawn became the stage for a fund-raising walk on campus. In an effort to raise donations for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, one of the leading advocates of type-1 diabetes research worldwide, thousands gathered to stroll through campus after raising sponsorship donations. While charity walks have recently grown in popularity, they have taken place for decades. The annual AIDS Walk San Diego celebrated its 19th year this September, and on Nov. 2, the Susan G. Komen Race For the Cure, an effort to raise donations to combat breast cancer, will be held in Balboa Park. For information on the coming event visit www.sdkomen.org.
