Released between Animal Collective albums, the last solo disc from Panda Bear (the fluctuating crew’s permanent drummer) was a helpless, exhaling wail for his father’s death. Person Pitch sees him bouncing back to the tune of a great girl and a newborn child, jittering with African bongos and echoing yelps of glee over seven tracks (only five of which are brand new and with two that chatter amongst themselves for upward of 12 minutes). He can be sweet, jungle-wild and even sneaky, but one thing this natural-born percussor is never: average. (SW)
