It’s an old point bandied around by Star Trek nerds: The only good Trek films are the even numbered ones. Of course, the best of ‘em all is “Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan” (A.K.A. “Moby Dick in space”). Ricardo Montalban’s Khan is the perfect overacting partner to Shatner’s Kirk, and there are space battles and ear-tunneling worms, too. It’s the standard sci-fi revenge flick, but done no better in the history of the genre. It plays in Landmark’s Midnight Madness series — at midnight. Wait for the part where Khan banishes Kirk to an empty planet, and Shatner bellows the best line of his career into his communicator: “KHAAAAAAAAAAAN!” (CBN)
