Guide to off-campus studying

Finals week looms ahead, reuniting students with their books, and tedious cram sessions are popping up campus-wide. Care not to be a prisoner of Geisel Library? Here are a few alternative study venues off campus to check out.

Cyber Brew Net Cafe

The Internet and coffee? What more could you desire for a night out studying? The café is open late on both weekdays and weekends so there is no escaping the dreaded task. If the late hours don’t give you enough incentive, you might as well take pictures of people who are studying and print them out on the color laser printers.

Black’s Beach

If the weather permits, Black’s Beach is excellent for those who prefer to study outdoors. Black’s is a peaceful and a surprisingly quiet place to study where comfort is key, for there is a “no shoe” policy. There is no need to feel claustrophobic in your room when you can enjoy the surf and open space.

Living Room Cafe

The Living Room, in reality, is the study room. Located in downtown La Jolla, its comfy hidden couches offer a sense of alone-time with your books. Open daily until 12 a.m., the mellow cafe offers a wide selection of coffee to keep you awake and a friendly staff to keep you sane.

Ralphs at La Jolla

Ralphs satisfies the inevitable marriage of the munchies and all-nighters. It’s open all night so you can eat to study and study to eat. Now you have a reason to study besides the grade.
