Commissioner of Student Advocacy Denis Shmidt
Shmidt reported that Student Legal Services will be holding a workshop for students whose apartments are being converted into condominiums. The workshop will be held in the Chancellor’s Complex, conference room 111A at 7 p.m. on Feb. 16.
John Muir College Junior Senator Neil Spears
Spears reported that the dedication of the Patrick J. Ledden Auditorium will take place on Feb. 11 at 3 p.m.
The auditorium, previously H&SS 2250, was dedicated after the late provost of John Muir College.
Items of Immediate Consideration
Items A and B
The council indefinitely tabled two pieces of legislation that would have changed the structure of the A.S. Council.
The first item would change the A.S. constitution to replace the current 24 senators with six college-based and six general members, while the second would have put the proposal to a student vote. See page 1 for more details.
Old Business
Item E
The council passed a resolution in support of a living wage for low-paid workers at UCSD.
The resolution urged the UC system to provide wage increases and for the campus to develop a system to determine a living wage for San Diego residents.
