Dance: Ras/Garba — New Year’s Cultural Dance

Saheli is sponsoring this celebration of the Indian New Year. The evening will feature costumes, music and Indian folk dance by circles of participants to the music of a live band. Aarti will be held at midnight. Indian food will be for sale, and there will be prizes for best costumes and dancing.

The event will take place from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Price Center Ballroom AB. There is no charge.

Social Event: HKSA Movies and Game Night

The Hong Kong Student Association is sponsoring a night of movies, cards and other games at Price Center Galleries A and B. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Performance: Sean Curran Dance Company

Sean Curran, former cast member of the percussion extravaganza “”STOMP!”” and member of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, comes with his own cast of dancers to Mandeville Auditorium from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Event: UCSD Blood Drive

The San Diego Blood Bank sponsors the UCSD Blood Drive Oct. 15 through Oct. 17 in Price Center Ballroom A at 10 a.m. All donors will receive a San Diego Blood Bank T-shirt.

Event: Evening Study Cruise

The Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography is sponsoring this evening on a “”floating classroom.”” Participants have the chance to cruise on a fully equipped research vessel around San Diego Bay, collect marine samples and learn about scientific discoveries.

The cruise will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is $25 for UCSD students.

Legendary songwriter Bob Dylan will play at RIMAC Arena. The concert begins at 8 p.m.
