8. “A Heartbreak” by Angus and Julia Stone

The DNA in the Stone family is ridiculously enviable. On top of having the looks, Aussie brother-sister duo Angus and Julia Stone are a serious musical force to be reckoned with. For a band that’s only released three albums within the nine years they’ve been in the business, the Stones are still only known for that-one-song-you-hear-everywhere-and-don’t-know-the-name-of (it’s probably their
2010 hit “Big Jet Plane.” Now you know). Although it was all well and good that the musicians have made a name for themselves in their solo careers, it’s pure magic when the two work together, making 2014 a special year when the siblings got back together and created a stunning, more mature lead single off their self-titled album. Produced by legendary producer Rick Rubin, “A Heartbreak” brings a new edge to their sound, incorporating vulnerable vocals paired with a dark, stuttering beat. And this time, you might hear it everywhere and remember its name.
