2. “So Long, See You Tomorrow” by Bombay Bicycle Club

“So Long, See You Tomorrow” is proof that the members of Bombay Bicycle Club are thieves. No, not the kind of plagiarizing crooks who steal to fill a void of originality. They are innovative, genre- snatching bandits guilty of pilfering elements from electronica, pop, rock and rhythm and blues. They aren’t borrowers; their deft fusion of each genre proves that they are in command of their loot and — if listeners are lucky — don’t plan on giving it back.

Merging so many different elements is a tricky feat to pull off — it runs the risks of disharmony and overproduction. But when successful, you get something fascinating and savory — something like “So Long, See You Tomorrow.” The band’s fourth studio album delivers a delicious, sonic medley unified by delicate, emotional vocals. The result? One of those rare albums that occasion a dance just as easily as it does a solitary listen.
