3. Orange Is the New Black

Netflix will continue to be your best friend with the release of the satisfying second season of “Orange is the New Black.” With a host of complex antiheroes, “Orange” is a refreshing and wildly funny tale of Piper Chapman’s (Taylor Schilling) life in Litchfield Prison. Here is the diversity we’ve been waiting for — albeit locked in jail — with relatable characters that are flawed, well developed and realistic. The second season contains more conflict and intrigue with characters such as the manipulative clique leader Vee (Lorraine Toussaint). Whereas in the first season, the characters were more misunderstood than criminal, with the second installment, it’s made clear that some enjoy being villains, and that’s equally compelling. After living in prison, the lens through which we view the story, Piper has changed to be more compassionate but also uncompromising, allowing the season to be more nuanced. Let the binge-watching proceed.
