    WOMEN’S RUGBY

The UCSD women’s rugby team crushed Clairemont College 50-7 last weekend, improving to 10-0 on the season. The team will travel to League Nationals in Orlando, Fla. from April 18-22. From there, they hope to advance to the Final Four competition in Minnesota.

    EQUESTRIAN

Stacy Sakai and Lisa Calvino, co-captains of the UCSD equestrian team, traveled to Nevada on Saturday to compete in the Zone 8 Championships. The competition, held at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, included schools from Nevada, Utah, Oregon and Washington.

Sakai took top honors in the intermediate flat event, and her performance earned her the Zone 8 Intermediate Flat Award and a chance to compete in the national competition in New York on May 3.

Calvino placed fourth in the open fences category.

    WOMEN’S LACROSSE

The UCSD women’s lacrosse team traveled to Tucson last weekend to take on the University of Arizona Wildcats.

UCSD started the game sluggishly and fell behind, but came back for awhile. San Diego’s efforts weren’t enough, however, and Arizona pulled away with an 11-8 win.

Maggie Scales and Megan Wemmer both scored hat tricks to lead UCSD, while freshmen Daphne Bilge and Jen Low also contributed to UCSD’s offense.
